COMPANY PROFILE

LAS Cool Sorption (Pty) Ltd was formed in 2000 as a joint venture between Liquid Automation Systems (Pty) Ltd (LAS)of South Africa and Aker Cool Sorption A/S of Denmark with the aim of introducing vapour recovery technology into South Africa. Early successes included the installation of a VRU into the Engen (a Petronas subsidiary) distribution terminal at Wentworth in Durban South Africa. Subsequently a number of units have been installed at other installations in South Africa, including Sasol II and III in Secunda, Natref in Sasolburg as well as at Total’s Island View Terminal installation.

In August 2006, LIQUID AUTOMATION SYSTEMS was acquired by Sturrock and Robson, who hold 80% of the shareholding in LAS Cool Sorption (Pty) Ltd, the remaining 20% being held by Aker Kvaerner Cool Sorption A/S.

Design of the units is done by Aker Cool Sorption A/S while all procurement, construction and installation are done locally, using locally sourced components and contractors wherever possible. We have successfully completed turnkey vapour recovery installations which include all aspects including vapour header design and installation and civil works as well as truck modifications.
